When you’re planning a destination wedding, there’s an additional element of trust that goes into selecting your wedding photographer. But despite all the planning, when it came to Sarah and Matt’s nuptials, finding the right photographer was left completely to chance.

After a serendipitous meeting at a beach bar in Thailand, American-born Sarah and British-born Matt conducted the ultimate long-distance transatlantic romance. Fast forward 9 months, and endless Skype calls later, and finally, Matt was approved for a U.S. visa.

The hard part was over, right? Not necessarily. Kansas-based Sarah and Matt planned their destination wedding in Miami, and eloped at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, weaving the couple's love of travel and romance into the fabric of their wedding day.

However, excitement came in an unexpected form when the wedding photographer didn't show up (not me!). I received a call when a teary-eyed Sarah realized her original photographer had forgotten about their special day. Thirty minutes later, I was at Vizcaya with my camera in hand, and the rest is history.
